Prevent calls connecting to Android Auto

I came from a post on Reddit recommendeding this app to help, but didn't give instructions.  I'm trying to find a way to prevent my calls automatically from be connected with Android Auto, and would instead connect to my Bluetooth headset.  When I turn the calls off in the Bluetooth settings, they automatically turn back on.  I'd like to use Android Auto for my maps while driving, and talk on the phone via my headphones.  Is there a way to catch the call before it connect to the car?

Unlikely, the only way to affect BT audio routing is the Bluetooth SCO set state block.
