I believe Linux Mint uses the Ubuntu repositories, so I'd recommend
grabbing all of the AutoKey packages that it offers (autokey-common,
autokey-gtk, and autokey-qt). There are subtle differences between
the GTK and Qt interfaces and you might prefer one over the other, at
least for some tasks. It's also useful when there's a bug in one and
not the other and you want to avoid or get around the bug.

Probably GTK, assuming you're using the Cinnamon desktop on Mint.  But
either should work (although I have personally seen some strange quirks
when running QT-based apps on my GNOME desktop.)

GTK and QT are development libraries used to build GUI applications.  QT
is generally associated with the KDE desktop environment while GTK is
associated with the rest, like GNOME, Mate, Xfce, etc.  (Mint's Cinnamon
is a fork of the GNOME desktop.)

Just try both and stick with the one you like the most.
You can actually use AutoKey without any of them (which I didn't try myself, so please correct me if I'm wrong). You can create phrases and scripts by just editing text files (if you know what you're doing, but it's not that complicated).

Kind regards

I'm on Linux Mint 22 now, been on it for about 6 months. There is more than a subtle difference between GTK and QT. You can see that by visting our Discord. I recommend the QT version for the best experience.

Also avoid the inbuilt text editor at all costs no matter which version you go with GTK or QT. you're better off clicking the link above the editor box and letting your default text editor handle it.

The discord link is findable on our wiki page. :)

As a long time user of Linux Mint Cinnamon and Autokey 96.0, my preference is gtk, being more "native". But, both versions work equally well. Qt will trigger the installation of additional libraries, that's all.
