It's up to you, but: Our development branch currently works under both Wayland and x11. We are still working on it, so there's no release date for 0.97.0 yet.
Anyone can take a look on GitHub and if you're adventurous, you can help us test it.
The setup is a bit more than just installing a package, but it's documented and we can help if you get stuck. It can be setup without affecting your current AutoKey setup. But keep in mind that it's a test version and not ready for production use.
When it's ready, we will create a beta release that everyone can try.
We still need more Python developers to help us get it ready faster.

I'm thinking of trying to relearn AutoKey, since AutoHotkey is just so impossible replicate by any other program, but I'm also on Linux Mint, which I recently learned may be leaving X11 for Wayland. Will AutoKey continue to work on Wayland or would it be a waste of time to learn it for the brief time that X11 will stay? --
