I am trying to set autoplay of YouTube video embeds using

$AE->setParam('autoplay', 'true');

but the embedded video doesn't start automatically.

Where am I going wrong?

On what hosts is autoplay setting supported?

Thank you.

Looks like youtube requires autoplay=1 in the URL you are embedding.
If you want it to always auto play you can change the step and add
autoplay=1 in the youtube embed code.

Doesn't AutoEmbed handle that automatically? setting the approapriate parameter according to the set options!

No it doesn't. There is no standard autoplay settings that all
providers use for video and AutoEmbed doesn't have anything in it to
know which specific setting a given provider is using. Maybe that can
be added in a future update.

This actually used to work before YouTube switched to using iframe to embed their videos.

$AE->setParam('autoplay','false');
This does still work for other sites though.
