I have a IDW-file of a part that is 54Mb. (I have similar drawing that are
only 3,4Mb)
Does anyone have a suggestion of what to do?

If you have shaded drawings the file size increases dramatically.

In Explorer you can rmb on the file and pick Compact. It removes other saved
copies and makes the file as small as it can get without rolling up the EOP
marker.

Larry,

Tanks for the explanation.
Now the filesize is 53Mb instead of 54Mb, any more tip ?

I've had big idw's but mine were multi-sheet versions. Compacting nor
anything else would reduce the file size. One thing that did finally work
was the delete button. <G> I know, that doesn't help much, eh? Best I can do
though. That's why I only explained what Compact was.

Do a "save copy as" and provide a new file name. Is that 53 MB also?

Is there a big BMP in the title block?

Perhaps save as dwf for distribution. It seems wasteful to keep idw's around
for copies of drawings that are finished. We are starting to keep dwf
drawings in job files where others can access them later because they are
typically less than 50K. When Inventor project is finished the Inventor
files are burned to CD and archived. All that remain are the dwf's. They are
really tiny.

We have used dwf's but we have now desided to go for pdf.
My problem is that this drawing is't finish and the filesize makes my
computer a bit tired.
(We normally have the file placed on a fileserver.)
