Enter a three digit coordinate like 1,3,5. this will start you at 1 in the
x coordinate, 3 in the y, and 5 in the z. If the elevation command still
works, you can specify a z coordinate to draw all lines on. for example if
you enter "elevation" at the command line, then give it a value of 10, all
subsequent lines will be drawn with a z coordinate of ten. check the help
file for more on these commands.

Bill, I believe the poster meant dimensioning - as in, dimension strings. You
will need to dimension in the appropriate drawing plane (UCS). For example, in
the WCS, your X-axis and Y- axis can be easily created.
Your Z-axis dimensions may also be created with the .xy point filter, but you
will only see a line after it's created. Instead, after your X and Y
dimensions, rotate your UCS at 90 degrees about the X-axis.
Now your UCS's Y-axis is now the WCS's Z-axis and Z dimensioning should be
easy.
Read up on UCS and Point filters - it will be a lot clearer. Goodluck.
