I would like to add the ohms symbol (greek omega) to the Romans.shx font
file. The best possible solution for us would be to replace one of the
existing characters (like the "^") so we can access the symbol using only
the keyboard. Is it possible to edit these .shp font files and recompile to
.shx format? If so, how is it done. Where would I get the Romans.shp font
file.

Thanks for your help

On the Web you can find the program SHX2SHP (www.cadalog.com) to get the
SHP. Check with your ACAD manual on the SHP format.

Not too tough after a couple of years <G>!

Not to easy at first but the end result is totally worth the effort. The
shapes in the font work much better than blocks. Too bad it doesn't go with
the drawing. I suggest replacing your lower case letters with the shapes
that you desire. Joseph E. Willis In article

Hello,

all the SHP files corresponding to the SHX files used in AutoCAD R14 are
situated on the R14 CD.
see:
\\ACAD\BONUS\FONTS.
The correct place of OMEGA in the Unicode table is
\U+03A9 (and \U+2126) for omega capital letter
\U+03C9 for omega small letter
The letters you are writing about are defined on the right place in SIMPLEX.SHX.
I would not advice you to define these letters on a wrong place. Think about
drawing exchange with others...;-)

shx2shp doesn't work on some of the R14 fonts. Anyone have an updated
version.

The R14 shp files are on your CD - in the BONUS/FONTS folder.

Thanks. It gives me a good example of shp coding.
