I have received an error in xrefing which might be due to a bug. I
first opened up A.dwg and Xref B.dwg in model space and the file came in
fine. I close the drawing and save and then reopen A.dwg. The xref
attempted to load, but only said "INVALID" below. In the Xref
attach-detach menu, the xref is there, but says "Xref Unresolved." I
tried to detach the file and then reattach, and I continue to get
"INVALID". It only occurs when I try to xref the B.dwg. I tried
inserting B.dwg into C.dwg. I then opened up A.dwg and xrefed C.dwg,
but the same problem occurred. This drawing was brought to us from a
Surveyor and I believe it was from an older version (12 or 13). Does
anyone have any idea what the problem is?

Thanks,

What happens if you bring up "B" and save it as an R14 drawing?

Hi Eric - This error isn't very clear, unfortunately, but this seems
to happen because of a problem reading through the symbols or blocks
in the drawing that is being attached. Check the drawing B for
anomalies by running the AUDIT command. Also you may find out some
information by exporting to DXF, and then importing the DXF file into
a new drawing. The DXF import will alert you of certain drawing
database problems that the Audit command doesn't object to. In one
case the problem was identified as being two listings for the text
style STANDARD in the drawing (one was able to be renamed). Let us
know what you find out!
