How do I set my Lineweights?

I have AutoCAD LT 2000, and I've only ever used AutoCAD R12. With R12 I was
able to set a specific lineweight for each of the basic 8 colours, and once
they were set, they would carry over for all of my drawings. With this new
LT 2000, all of the lines are very light, and with no real thickness.
