Has ANYONE been able to plot with the Calcomp 5436 and ACAD2000? I am using
Win95, thru Novell network and JetDirect with centronics connection, and
have tried Calcomp 907 windows system driver, but only get dithered or
dotted lines no matter how I set plot styles. (Even the test page that says
congratulations if you can read this you have succeeded). I also tried
HP650 and was able to get a solid plot , but the scale was probably only 1/3
or proper size. Maybe someone knows a different front panel setting on the
Plotter itself that will make this work.

So far my boss is VERY pleased that I have spent $1000 to get plotters to
plot when they were perfectly fine in R14 before I suggested we go on to
ACAD2000. Good thing I got free upgrades with my VIP contract :-( My ACAD
provider has been working with Autodesk for two weeks now to no success.
Too bad I didn't take the money I have wasted in time and put it on a
trade-in for a new plotter, or a new CAD program!

Come on AUTODESK! This is ridiculous, you would not tolerate a new car
requiring custom gasoline to work, but that's the equivalent of this new
plotter BENEFIT. If you think I am wrong just look at the number of
problems posted to this newsgroup.

End of Speech!

Nick,

I agree, I get the feeling Autodesk just doesn't care. They got their
money. I uninstalled A2000 and I am sticking with reliable R14. Its
a shame though, A2k had many benifits but how good are they if you can't
plot them out.

Nick,

I was able to get a plot out of my Calcomp 720-C. I had to use the Calcomp
Windows Plotter driver for Win95, do away with the R14 *.pc2 files and create a
user defined paper size (no small task in itself). I keep hoping that Autodesk
will see the light and give us back the ADI drivers.

Thanks Michael,
I have a plain ole Calcomp TechJet 5436 B&W. I have been told you can get
support from CALGRAF at (714)-821-2561, but I bet it is a charge help.
From the number of postings maybe we need a CALCOMP news group under
"autocad.calcomp.print-plot".

Actually what we need is for Autodesk to use a little bit of the money paid for
A2K and come up with some drivers for the Calcomp plotters. I assume that there
are many of us out there in the same boat. Titanic went down for lack of
planning (divert around the ice), does Autodesk want to go down for lack of
customer support???

I have just wasted this am trying various HP drivers to run my Calcomp
TechJet 5436. Unfortunately none have worked. I did get an actual plot on
11x17 using HP200 hpgl/2 driver, but it was right justified and about 4
times too small. Yes, I did try calibrate plotter but that also failed. I
have tried the HP750c+, HP7586b, HP 650, HP7600, HP200. My CalComp manual
says "your plotter is compatible with the HP Design Jet 200, 600, and 7600",
I don't know what seems to be making them non compatible, but I have to stop
for awhile before I get too bent out of shape!@#$! OH IKNOW! Lets reload
R14, draw in ACAD2000 and plot with R14.............NOT!!!!!!!!
How about a little help here AUTODESK? ( I am going this afternoon to look
at Intergraph)
Tired user!

Make sure you have Calcomp's newest driver. I just installed it off the
website, and am plotting fine.

I DOWNLOADED THE NEWEST DRIVERS FOR TECHJET 720C AND COULDN'T PLOT
ANYTHING.
SINCE I HAVE A2K I HAVE HAD MANY OTHERS ASK IF THEY SHOULD UPGRADE AND
MY ADVICE TO THEM IS NO!!!!!!!! ITS NOT WORTH THE FRUSTRATION AND LOST
TIME IN GENERAL OVERHEAD. I HAVE SPENT MORE TIME ON GENERAL OVERHEAD
THAN THE COST OF THE ------- UPGRADE (FILL IN THE BLANK).

AUTODESK GET YOU ---- TOGETHER! YOU ARE LOSING LOYAL CUSTOMERS FASTER
THAN YOU KNOW. IS IT WORTH IT?

VERY UNHAPPY UNPLOTTABLE A2K OWNER

Nick,

Ive gotten 2 of these going using the windows system drivers supplied
on the A2K CD for a HP-330. Note: These are NOT HDI Drivers from
within AutoCAD. I then added a system driver in AutoCAD that pointed
to them.

On the plotter i set it to Autosense, Expanded margins. and told it to
use software for pens.

What BIOS rev is your plotter indicating when you fire it up? What is
your input resolution on the plotter set at? This may have an effect
on your wrong scales.

Rita,

I sure would like to know what you have done. I spent 6 hours yesterday and
many others for a minimum of 20 hours. Still no go. I downloaded the latest
drivers from Calcomp yesterday, and they did me no good. I have even
uninstalled A2K and reinstalled it 3 time so far.

Please if you have an idea that works e-mail me at

Ok, here is the latest scoop. I finally got the CC to plot! hurrah! :-)
Go to CalComp website and download the CALCOMP RASTER driver 4.02.
With a little manipulation it works fine. Set your Calcomp control panel
for HPGL/2, and all should be well.
Special thanks to Rita Kogler who helped me find this out!

The trick is in the readme file. The directions are a bit weird. You have
to uninstall the old driver. Reboot. Then run Clean95. Reboot. Then
install the new driver. Then - for NT only - you have to install the
calcomp processor and change the driver's properties. Check out the readme.
It spells it out, once you know what you're looking for.
