1. Start Mtext and choose Arial as the text font
2. Enter 'ft' in the text window
3. Open the Symbol pop down list and choose Other.
4. Find the superscript 2 symbol and highlight it.
5. Click the Select button, and then the Copy button.
6. Switch back to AutoCAD, and position the cursor after the text 'ft'
in the Mtext window.
7. Press Ctrl-V to paste the symbol into the Mtext.
8. OK the Mtext window and you have the text you need.
It doesn't look like the SHX fonts provided with AutoCAD have
superscript 2 or 3 defined, so you would have to customize the
corresponding SHP files for the SHX fonts that you use and recompile
them. As well, you would have to remember to distribute the customized
SHX fonts when distributing the drawings to other users.
If this doesn't quite answer your question, please reply and we'll
give it another shot. You might need to elaborate on how you plan to
use the symbol.

If I don't have the book handy I just open up notepad and start using
numbers between 128 and 255 till I find the one I want.
