Uh oh...

I'm using a Diamond Viper 550 video card w/ 16Mb video memory in
a Dell Dimension XPS R400 machine with 328 Mb RAM on a
Novell 4/1 network. Though previously I was using the Diamond supplied
driver with this card, earlier problems led me to download and install the
NVIDIA generic display list driver, which is version 4.10.01.0048

In Tools, Options, System, Current 3D Graphics Display, the only
selection available is GSHEIDI10. 3D acceleration is set to
"Software" (the default?)... usually.

I'm now finding that if I turn on Hardware acceleration, which uses
the wopengl6.hdi driver (is that a driver?) I have a problem: I
cannot create or format a Dimension Style. With 3D Hardware acceleration
on, when I select Format, Dimension Style, A2K crashes with the following
message:

[window title] Exception in C:\Program Files\Acad2000\ACDIM.ARX ARX Command

[window contents] Unhandled exception c0000005 (access violation
reading 0xffffffff at address 695AD976h)

Pressing OK clears the message, A2K is still onscreen but all buttons
no longer work. I have to CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Close Program
window and use it to End Task A2K.

Once I return to using Software Acceleration instead of Hardware, I am again
able to create or modify a Dimension Style.

Can I get Hardware Acceleration to work with the 3D Graphics system
using this card, and if so, what does that get me?

Thanks in advance,
