In the process of upgrading to 2000, my 12-button customization has
disappeared. I upgraded my Kurta drivers to wintab, but I cannot get
the ***button customization in my menu files to work.

They used to work just fine with R13 & R14's old (Obsolete) ADI drivers.
Of course I was also using a mouse too.

These were the working buttons:
// Buttons1
// 12 Button Digitizer
// if a grip is hot bring up the Grips Cursor Menu (POP 17), else send a
carriage return
***BUTTONS1
$M=$(if,$(eq,$(substr,$(getvar,cmdnames),1,5),GRIP_),$P0=ALUMACAD.GRIPS
$P0=*);
$P0=SNAP $p0=*
'_ZOOM 2x
'_PAN \(getvar "VIEWCTR");
_LINE
^C^C
^O
'_DIST
_MOVE
'_ZOOM W
'_ZOOM .5x

Any advise on getting AutoCAD2000 to recognize button customization
would be appreciated.

Thank you,

George

George - Make sure that both Windows and AutoCAD are using the tablet
as a Wintab device. Check the settings for the tablet in the Control
Panel, and then in AutoCAD 2000's Options command, System tab.

After applying this customization to the menu file (.mns, or .mnu), be
sure to reload the menu from the file that was modified. Use the Menu
command, and use the 'Files of type' drop down list to choose the menu
file that was customized.

Be aware that there is a new feature in ACAD 2000 that calls up
shortcut (context) menus with a right click (second puck button). You
can customize the shortcut menus as well so that the Alumacad pop menu
items are listed in them as well, or disable the shortcut menus in the
Options command, User Preferences tab.

Christal,

Thank you for your responce. But the problem persists.
I've configured both Windows and AutoCAD 2000 for the wintab device.
I know about the neuances of loading menu customization and I caught the
new system variables SHORTCUTMENU and MBUTTONPAN in the "Customization
Guide"

This, I think, is the problem:

I'm using a Kurta IS/ONE 12-button puck w/ a 12x17 pad. The IS/ONE
series has three different pad sizes and pucks with button counts
ranging from 4 to 16. In the previous versions of AutoCAD in CONFIG you
could choose the pad size and the number of buttons on the puck. The
default was 4 buttons. In AutoCAD 2000, as well as wintab, there is no
way to choose the number of buttons on the puck. So AutoCAD is
defaulting to 4. I tested this out by changing the customization. The
first four buttons worked correctly in AutoCAD 2000, but the
customization on the upper eight buttons didn't work at all.

Any suggestions ?

George

When I downloaded the latest Kurta Drivers from
http://www.altek.com/drivers.htm
the installation included a test that said what dip switch settings to
have for proper operation. And they work for a four button puck.
BUT if you have a twelve button puck on an IS/ONE 12x17 digitizer,
these are the settings to use for AutoCAD customization to work:

Bank A: On 4,5,6,7
Bank B: On 1,2,4,7
Bank C: On 1,2,7,8

Thanks,

George
