I have never been able to get hardware acceleration to work with Autocad for
3D shaded viewing. With Land Desktop 3, when I set the video acceleration to
use wopengl7.hdi, Autocad immediately hangs when I use 3d orbit with shading
enabled. With Land Desktop 2005 when I set video to use wopengl8.hdi, 3d
orbit works, but it is slower than software acceleration and the model
dispappears during the orbit so I cannot view it dynamically. It reappears
when I stop the orbit.

I have had the problem on several machines, including 2 machines at my
former place of employment and my current machine. The machine I am using
now has had a hard disk array installed so the OS and applications were all
reinstalled. I have reinstalled both versions of Land Desktop several times
due to other issues, yet this problem persists. I installed the latest
driver for my video card today and still no good.

I downloaded and installed PowerDraft by nVidia. This tool has it's own
nvgl.hdi heidi driver and it is working with Land Desktop 3/Acad 2002. Thus
it seems that the problem is with the wopengl7.hdi driver. I then
uninstalled Powerdraft and reset the video accelerator to use the wopengl7
driver and it seems to be stable.
