Intellimouse Explorer customizing 4th & 5th button

I cannot figure out how to customize the forward (4th) and back (5th)
buttons on my new Intellimouse Explorer. I've gone to the acad.mnu
under ***buttons and ***aux and still can't figure it out. I am using
shift-right-click and ctrl-right-click and shift-middle for zooming,
paning, etc...but I would like to set up the 4th and 5th buttons for
that, instead of using two hands to zoom or pan. Can someone help
please?
