xref overlay vs attach switch between.

is it possible using lisp or vlisp to touch and xref and switch it between
overlay and attached? and if an xref is a child of an attached then touch
it and it will come into the current dwg as a parent xref? then you can
switch the attached back to an overlay and only have 2 xrefs show in your
dwg. this routine would be handy but i am not sure if it can be done.

The XREF command dialog box does somthing like this - Just double click on
the word Attach or overlay in the Type column to flip it.
