In R14 if you didn't have definitions in the acad.pat then the custom .pat
file could only contain one hatch definition. Is this still true in 2000
and 2002? I have a very large acad.pat file and I would like to break it up
into section or different .pat files.

Thanks.

Yes, this is still true.

I have tons of different patterns, When I want just a brick pattern then I
could just open the brick.pat and choose from a pattern rather than
scrolling through tons of patterns.

Still true, AFAIK.

But out of curiosity, what's the advantage of splitting up ACAD.PAT?

:o(

I hope someday I can have my patterns broke down into groups

Thanks David

True, but I don't know them by name only by site.
I guess it would be simple but (old_dog /= new_trick) :o)

You don't really have to scroll through them, you can hit the first letter
of the pattern name and it will jump to the patterns that begin with that
letter. Just in case you were scrolling from A-Y so you can get to Z.

Thoughts on a new lisp? Maybe VBA? To create hatch groups (different .pat
files) start the routine that show a drop down box with the list of groups
in it. Select a groups witch changes its name to acad.pat then starts
bhatch. Would something like this work? Thoughts comment.

BTW
you can create custom hatches
instead of putting them all in the acad.pat
the trick is to have the name of the
pattern same as the file name .pat
then it will show up in the hatch
dialog box custom tab next to
ANSI/ISO/Predefined/Custom
HTH

I have an acad.pat file of 1m. Would be much more workable to have it split
up into groups similar to what can be done with .lin files.

That was my thought exactly. Well I just started to look in to making
something that would help with my little dilemma. I if you would like I
will keep you posted?

Thanks

You could use (setenv "ANSIHatch" "yourpat1. pat") to toggle between hatch
pattern files.
