I've added a few lisp routines to my "Startup Suite". I just noticed that I
am getting the following error. "malformed list on input :error#0" on
startup. I removed everything from the Startup Suite and load the lisp
files separately, no error. Then I added them back to the Startup Suite,
error is back....

Without seeing it, I can only guess you're missing a " or maybe a paren.
