Hello again

There must be others like myself who do not appreciate the dimscale being
reset to 1 every time one changes the dimension style through the drop down
list on the dimension toolbar. What customizations / workarounds have been
discussed? Ideally, I would like to change the way the drop down works,
since it is a more direct means of selecting what you want than having to
draw descriptive icons for toolbar buttons. I can however imagine a simple
lisp routine that stores the dimscale variable, changes the style and
restores the scale variable again. Any thoughts?

Fred,
Are you using dimscale as an override or part of the dimension style?
Overrides are lost when you switch dimension styles. It would be a logical
operation when switching dimension styles. If you save the dimscale(on
the fit tab as overall scale factor) with the dimension style, you should
have no problem.

Sorry for delayed response. AutCad's Architectural Desktop wishes me to work
in a certain manner, and it actually makes a modicum of sense. The dimension
style is drawn in real world units, the important part of the definition is
the textstyle, the tick marks, arrows, placement of things, etc. By using
dimscale, one style works at all drawing scales. Otherwise the exact same
"look" (on different scaled drawings) would require different styles.
inefficient.
