I've 3 times exactly the same problem when using
AutoCAD 2004 English version SP1 and SP1a
Windows XP SP1 and SP2
Two different machines
Three different users
User cached the error last time it tried to run AutoCAD.
He told me that he has clicked twice the AutoCAD icon at the Quick Launch Toolbar and suddenly machine rebooted, and then AutoCAD has Error 0.1.0020 and asks for a new authorization code.
" Error (0.1.0020)"
" You have 7 days to submit a new license code..."
So, it seams that something (variables, stack, threads ??) goes wrong at OS level when AutoCAD is launched twice in the same second.
Did you get a solution ?
Best Regards
Alberto Diogo
Any crash of AutoCAD or the OS can damage any open file, including the
license file.

Clicking twice the AutoCAD 2004 icon, two machines always reboot and return error code 0.1.0020. Yet, I've no problem with any other program.
This machines have a 36GB SATA Raptor 10000RPM Western Digital disk, which I believe is "too fast" to manage :))
Despite new features from AutoCAD 2005, I think I will ask user to click only once AutoCAD 2004 icon, because solve this bug would be quite expensive....
Thanks Cy,
Alberto Diogo
Perhaps the MDI setting would prevent the problem. (Also, changing to the
network license would prevent it.)

I've changed to single sessions and when I clicked twice AutoCAD 2004 icon machine reboot, causing 0.1.0020 error, and once again I was asked to insert a new authorization code.
Before insert a new code, I clicked again twice and AutoCAD opened two different windows. I opened one window and set radio bottom to insert a new code.
After click next... I got a REBOOT causing Error [11.1.6022].
Meaning that something is wrong between AutoCAD license module and Windows XP Pro English both SP1 and SP2.
Since, from this license, I can not ask more licenses via Internet, and additionally I have to justify to Autodesk each new code, I will not perform more tests.
Thanks Cy,
Alberto Diogo

- uninstall AutoCAD 2004 Eng
- execute RegClean (to be sure that registry is clean)
- defrag disk
- install AutoCAD 2004 Eng and SP1a
Until the end of this week, I will post a new message on this issue.
Cy, thanks for your help,

However, neither the uninstall/install procedure using Registry Clean from AutoDesk, nor file defragmentation solved the double click problem.
Since this bug does not causes major problems, I'll try to live nicely with it.
NOTE: Registry Clean from AutoDesk does NOT perform a full clean, because after reinstall, both Autodesk License and Authorization Code were NOT asked again !!! How could it be possible ? Where are this files hidden ?
The rule is (generally) that if you install and then uninstall, without
every launching the product, your system is left exactly where it was to
begin with. But files created by launching the product are not removed by
the uninstaller, since they were not put there by the installer. These
include your settings, preferences, and drawings, of course.
For AutoCAD 2004, licenses are here:
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application
Data\Macrovision\SafeCast\Product Licenses"
