I am looking for a silver leaf type material map. Does any one have a good
site to find metalic materials?

My advice would be to avoid the metal materials that come with viz. If you
want good reflective metal, start with a raytrace material and tone down the
reflection and add a bump map. A good place to get raytraced materials is
in the sample files that come with Viz 3. I'm not sure what "silver leaf"
is. Is that engraved patterns?

thanks.....I haven't been really impressed with the standed metals in viz
either, but I will try the raytraced.

Christina,

The problem is in lighting and surface shape. If you see a decent
metallic material on the Sample Sphere it will probably look entirely
different in different lighting and will certainly look different on a
flat surface if it uses Reflect/Refract map.

You most always have to adjust for your scene. Use the material as a
guide only.
