Confirmed this is working as well. Enabling the flags was not enough, had to also disable the deprecation flags.

oof, work computers finally updated to the dreaded chrome 140 where none of the current workarounds can keep it working. anyone figure out a way to still get it running with this chrome update? no permissions to update registry keys and all the chrome:flag settings that kept it alive for chrome 138/139 no longer apply :(

I reinstalled chrome 138 and disabled auto update. Hope someone can make a real solution before I have to update chrome one day.

how can u disable update, i can't stop update although do this:

1. Reg key

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\update]

"DisableAutoUpdateChecksCheckboxValue"=dword:00000001

2. Rename Update folder in Google

3. Disable service Google update

The comment by User Raman on the question on superuser.com as per previous message by George-Laurențiu Vasilache ( https://superuser.com/a/1918418/1046425 ), which is, setting flag, uninstalling the extension, getting the source code and uploading the code as unpacked extension) works here for now.

After writing my previous message, I realized that the method I described must be repeated every time one restarts the pc, so it becomes cumbersome.
