The iridium tipped OEM spark plugs of a 2012, 2013 and 2014 Mazda3 equipped with the Skyactiv-G 2.0L I4 engine can last up to 100,000 miles. But they should be checked before that time if just to make sure they don't become stuck or "frozen" in the cylinder heads.

Here's the instructions page - http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/Mazda-Mazda3-Skyactiv-G-2L-I4-Engine-Spark-Plugs-Replacement-Guide/index.html

The steps should be the same for the new Mazda6 and CX-5 that also have the same Skyactiv-G 2.0 liter engine.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,

I just attempted to change the plugs on my 2012 Mazda3 Skyactiv G and discovered that the 9/16" plug socket was too big!  It didn't even start to bite the plug, which turned out to fit a 14 mm deep socket.

The replacement plugs I purchased from RockAuto Denso 4718, which you also indicate as the replacement plug on your video page, turn out to be for the base model Mazda3, without SkyActiv, and they fit the 9/16" socket.  So now I'm confused, which is correct for the SkyActiv G engine???

Thanks
Ray
