Today, we’re delighted to announce an exciting new member!

Welcome to Ted Staunton, one of Canada’s best known children’s authors of everything from picture books to novels for teens.  Ted has been doing presentations, performances and workshops for schools, libraries and conferences across Canada since the 1980s. He also teaches adults the craft of writing for children at George Brown College in Toronto and at the Haliburton School of the Arts, and, through CODE Canada, leads workshops for writers and editors in Ethiopia. Ted also performs with the Maple Leaf Champions Jug Band and always brings his guitar and banjo along for school visits.

Here's what Margaret Heenan has to say about Ted's visits:  "Our students have enjoyed Ted's presentations and his writing workshops so much that we have him back every year!  The students and teachers are completely engaged and lots of fun is had by all!"

Ted has some availability in May and June and has good availability in the fall. To read more about Ted, go here:

MEET THE AUTHOR: ERIC ZWEIG

By the age of 10, Eric Zweig was already a budding sports fanatic who was filling his school news books with game reports instead of current events. Today, he gets to write about sports for a living!

As a boy, Eric was a pretty good hockey player, a great football player, and a lousy baseball player … though baseball was his favourite sport. He worked on the grounds crew for the Toronto Blue Jays for five years, and still has a champagne bottle from the team’s first American League East Division title celebration in 1985. He later worked at the Hockey Hall of Fame, where his job included cleaning the Stanley Cup!

Eric has been writing about sports and sports history since graduating from Trent University in 1985. He has been working with Dan Diamond and Associates (consulting publisher to the National Hockey League) since 1997 and has been writing for children since 1999. He has been an on-air guest on dozens of television and radio programs and appeared as a “Hockey Philosopher” in the CBC series Hockey: A People’s History.

Eric is a member of the Society for International Hockey Research and the Society for American Baseball Research. He is married and lives in Owen Sound, Ontario, with his wife Barbara, who is also a writer and editor, and their giant cat Riggs.
