Meet the Author!

Susin Nielsen’s first novel was “published” when she was eleven years old. It was called “The Smallest Snipet of Snipeton” (pronounced “Snippet” – she still doesn’t know why she didn’t spell it with two “p’s”) and her school, Gregory Drive in Chatham Ontario, put it into the school library. Okay, the truth is, all of the kids in the class wrote books, and illustrated them, and had them put in the school library. But as Susin remembers it, hers was very popular! She still has the original copy today. It was about, well, the smallest snip(p)et in a community called Snip(p)eton, and he runs away, and has adventures with dogs and farmers, and winds up happily back at home at the end …
