Dear Teachers and Librarians,

Next week will be our final newsletter until September.  However, we will be checking our mail throughout the summer and will be happy to help you with your fall booking needs at any time.  Our response time may be a little slower, but should never been more than a few days.

Important: Please remember to send messages to a...@authorsbooking.com.   If you use the reply button instead, your message may not reach us.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Meg Tilley's Maybe Later and Janet Wilson's One Peace: True Stories of Young Activists have both been chosen by the Bank Street Book Committee as Best Children's Books of the Year.

Kathy Stinson is one of three authors participating in the event:Panel Discussion: Authors on Landscape Architecture” at the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects 75th Anniversary conference in Toronto this August.  Some of you might be surprised to learn that Kathy’s publishing achievements include the non-fiction title: Love Every Leaf: The Life of Landscape Architect Cornelia Hahn Oberlander. In classroom presentations about this work, Kathy chats about the writing of her book about a woman (now 87 years old) who is still active in the profession she chose for herself at the age of 11. The book touches on Holocaust history, women's struggle for equality, and solutions to environmental issues. Grades 6 and up.

Welcome Eric Zweig and Karen Bass

Ever since he was a child, Eric Zweig has been all about sports!  In 1985, after graduating from Trent University, he began writing about sports.  By 1999, branched out and began to write for children too.  His sports books for children and young adults include both fiction, and non-fiction titles.

An ideal presenter for sports-mad students and reluctant readers. Author of 11 sports books for kids, including Hockey Trivia for Kids, On This Day in Hockey, and Crazy Canucks: The Uphill Battle of Canada's Downhill Ski Team.

Eric has been an on-air guest on dozens of television and radio programs and appeared as a “Hockey Philosopher” in the CBC series Hockey: A People’s History

If you haven’t yet read anything by Alberta author Karen Bass, chances are good you soon will.  Karen’s fascinating first book, Run Like Jager, combines the inspiration of a cousin who took part in an exchange program and Karen’s long-standing interest in World War Two.

This compelling work won Karen both the Christian High School Book Club 2009 Readers' Choice award and the 2009 CAA Exporting Alberta award.  The Alberta award will mean a visit to Ontario this fall.  Book early as time slots may go quickly!
