NEW RELEASE
Valerie Sherrard: Accomplice. Lexie Malton has a terrible secret. Her ex-boyfriend, Devlin, is now a heroin addict living on the street, and only Lexie knows that she’s the one who put him there. Then Devlin enters rehab and Lexie finds herself drawn back to him, never guessing what a dark and deadly path she has just chosen. (Accomplice is one of two debut novels in the new Keystone series – high interest stories for reluctant readers, from Dundurn.)

A PERSONAL GLIMPSE OF GAIL SIDONIE SOBAT
Gail Sidonie Sobat is very excited about the release of her new novel, Chance to Dance For You, based in part on a real-life story. As an educator, Gail has worked with a number of gay and lesbian youth, and has witnessed the intolerance that many marginalized young people too often experience – from peers, adults and communities. Gail tends to write about the underdog, having herself been misunderstood and ostracized in her teens. Such was the subject of her recent paper at the Bern Institut in Bern, Switzerland in May 2010. There, as presenter and guest author, she spoke about this theme and also about the difficulties of being a female author who writes YA literature, long considered the “poor cousin” of “real” literature by “real” authors. Gail hopes to aid in dispelling this myth, and to see more YA books by Canadian writers in Canadian high school English classes.
This year has also been busy with the re-organization of YouthWrite, a camp for kids who love to write…just about anything!© For fifteen years, these summer and winter immersion camps—with a multidisciplinary approach to creative writing—have been Gail’s passion. She believes in the power of young voices.
Gail will be in the GTA from April 25 – 30. Contact us today to book her!
