I was wandering if there has been (or going to be) a mission to study
the sun (its atmosphere, flares, etc) from a closer distance. Does
anybody have information about this?
I think there have been some missions, but I'm not sure about the
goals...

The solar flare are so dangerous for sats on orbit also traveling
probes to other solar system planets, do you remember that the
Opportunity faced the biggest solar flare ever known during the route
to the Mars, the control center shout it down and then restarted it?
but there are couple of more missions for observing the Sole also
there is sats and probs orbiting her.

"Yes, there are lot's of artificial satellites orbiting the Sun, They
range from spent rocket boosters, various probes (both active and
inactive) and full fledged observatories. The most notable is the SOHO
observatory. The Ulysses mission is also noteworthy.

Thanks,
I acutally wanted to know if there is (or has been) a mission to get
closer to Sun? (Considering its danger, difficulty, etc)
The current missions seem to be mostly done far away from Sun.
