Radioinfo.com.au reports:
Guy Ashford has been appointed Operations and General Sales Manager at
2HD and New FM, Newcastle. Ashford joins the Supernetwork in this
senior management role after some 28 years of all round practical
hands on experience including 18 years of on-air and programming
stints at 2LF Young, 2MC Port Macquarie, 2GO Gosford, 2SM Sydney and
2KO Newcastle. He has spent the past 8 years in sales and has been
Sales Manager at 2GO-Sea FM Gosford for the past 3 years.
Ashford, a Newcastle boy (he and his wife and 2 children have
lived in Newcastle for the past 15 years) brings a wealth of all
round radio experience to 2HD and New FM. He told radioinfo, "I am
over the moon with this appointment and I am particularly pleased
and proud of the fact that I have been given the opportunity to
work again in my home town. I am a Newcastle boy through and
though and I greatly appreciate Bill Caralis giving me this chance
of a lifetime particularly as the Supernetwork expands. We are
also about to build a brand new ground up station facility here in
Newcastle with new studio design digital desks and also featuring
an all glass studio fit out equal to anything around the world."
Commenting on Ashford's appointment Supernetwork Chairman, Bill
Caralis said "I am very pleased to welcome Guy to the
Supernetwork, he brings a wealth of experience and integrity and
he is just the man to revitalise our Newcastle radio institutions,
2HD and New FM."
Last month Media Hunter reported that station Sales Manager Kathy
Coleman had gone on indefinite stress leave following a falling-out
with Caralis over changed commission structures. To our knowledge,
Coleman is still employed at 2HD/NEWFM, however it seems that she will
no-longer be Sales Manager given that Ashford has been employed in
this rolewas Sales Manager.
