VETERAN Perth radio host Gary Shannon has called it a day at 6PR and
is returning to sister station 96FM.

After two years on the talkback station, Shannon gave up his
midday-2pm slot today.

6PR general manager Declan Kelly said the decision was based on
research into commercial radio, which found there was demand for
Shannon's style on FM airwaves.

Kelly said Shannon's move to 96FM had "nothing to do with his work on
PR".

Shannon will return to 96FM after about an eight-year absence from its
breakfast show.

"He's very excited to return to music radio," Kelly said.

Shannon will join journalist Aleysha Knowles and former 96FM host
Fitzy, who is returning after leaving the station at the end of last
year. The trio will replace Rod and The Flack.

Bob Maumill will start two hours earlier at noon on 6PR to cover
Shannon's timeslot, with Howard Sattler bringing his start foward an
hour to 3pm to relieve Maumill.
