THE ABC's talk stations lost market share as FM stations clawed back
ratings in the second radio ratings survey of the year.

AM talk stations dominated the year's first Nielsen Media Research
survey and 2GB and 3AW retained their market leads despite gains by FM
in this second survey.

Sydney's leading station, Macquarie Radio's 2GB, dropped 1.6 share
points but still retained market share leadership with a 12.7% share
against 2Day's 11.0%.

2GB dropped 2.6 share points in the breakfast shift and 2.5 points in
the morning shift but Alan Jones and Ray Hadley still hold commanding
leads over 2Day's Kyle and Jackie O (up 1.4 points to 12.3%) and Chris
Page (up 1.0 point to 10.6%).

Austereo's 2Day grew 1.2 points for its 11.0% share in Sydney, while
its troubled Triple M also moved positively, growing its share 0.7
points to 6.9%.

The Melbourne market was relatively static with Fairfax Media's 3AW
still dominant with a 15.3% market share ahead of Fox's 12.9%. ABC774
lost second spot after a 1.2 point fall to a 11.6% share.

Its drop was due to a 2.2 share point falls between noon and 7pm in
the shifts hosted by Richard Stubbs, Lindy Burns and PM.

Adelaide's 5AA jumped ahead of the pack with a 1.8 point jump for a
15.4% share ahead of Nova's 13.1% after its own 1.3 share point rise.
ABC891 lost 1.3 points for a 11.2% share and Cruise 1323 lost 2.6
points for a 7.4% share.

ABC612 had the biggest fall in Brisbane, dropping 2.4 points for a
8.3% share against Nova's 14.1%, Triple M's 12.0% and B105's 11.3%.
Spencer Howson and AM lost 4.0 points in the breakfast shift for
ABC612.
