Hey everyone!

I am so excited to tell you about a few upcoming events:

On TUESDAY, November 9, from 7-8pm, STAND (the anti-genocide coalition) is hosting ACTIVISM 101.
Are you outraged by all the inhumane, genocidal acts taking place in our world?  Do you think it's time we put an end to genocide once and for all?  You've learned about the atrocities occurring in Sudan, Burma, the Congo, etc.  Now its time to STAND up and speak out!  Come to our next meeting to learn how you can strengthen your activism in the anti-genocide movement!

On WEDNESDAY, November 10, from 4-5:30pm, in Butler Boardroom, AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL AT AU is hosting FALLING WHISTLES
The event will shed light on the situation in the Congo. Specifically, we will be screening a film, "Peace in the New Frontier" and we will have two speakers, Sean Carasso, founder of Falling Whistles and Yves Muya, Congolese refugee, who will speak about the ongoing conflict, with a focus on the impacts of war on children and how we as the community at American University can get involved.

On WEDNESDAY, November 10, from 8-9pm, in Battell T48, EMPOWER CONGO is having our first LETTER WRITING PARTY!
Come celebrate the strength of Congo's women with us as we write letters expressing our solidarity and encouragement for our Congolese sisters, the women of Panzi Hospital who have been raped or sexually abused. There will be Congolese music, yummy pizza, coloring. What could be better?

So get excited. Bring your hearts, your minds and your friends. I hope to see you all there!
