How does one coexist with the one who killed your loved ones? How does he/she forgive when he/she is the only survivor?
Join
us on Wed April 13, 1:00pm-3:00pm in McDowell Formal Lounge for a short
screening of the documentary "Wounded Healers" followed
by a panel discussion with three Rwandan Genocide Survivors as they
share their personal journeys towards reconciliation and how they are
healing.
Panelists will include:
1) Mr. Kayihura: Genocide survivor and
former Prosecutor in Charge of the Department of Genocide Crimes and
crimes against Humanity in Kigali- Rwanda.
2) Ms. Mukeshimana: Genocide survivor and founder of Genocide Survivor Support Network, based in New York.
3)
Ms. Consolee: was 14 years old during the Genocide and will share her
personal journey and her encounter with those who killed her brothers.
This will be a chance to learn about
the
challenges and successes of the Rwandan reconciliation process and also
how applicable are those insights to other post-conflicts societies. Light refreshments will be served.
