Redefining Perceptions of Africa through Art

To kick
off American University’s AIDS Awareness Week, join us for “Redefining
Perceptions of Africa through Art.” This event will feature performances and
panel discussion by locally based African musicians, poets, and spoken word
artists featuring DC-based South African acoustic duet Mahala, Nigerian spoken
word artists Bassey Ikpi and Femi the Dri Fish, and Ghanaian musician and poet
Galileo. This World AIDS Day let's celebrate the creativity and ingenuity of
Africa and Africans.
THE EVENT WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A RECEPTION WITH ETHIOPIAN FOOD PROVIDED BY ZED'S
ETHIOPIAN CUISINE IN GEORGETOWN. THIS EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.

Creative Peace Initiatives Meeting
8:15 pm Clark Conference Room
Come learn about and discuss our current work with peace education at Malcolm X
Elementary School in Congress Heights, as well as other initiatives for next
year.
We will be attending this meeting in lieu of having a SPA meeting.
