I'm trying to use GDA2020 Australian Albers (EPSG:9473) in QGIS, but it's not built in, so
I tried to add it as a custom CRS through the Settings>Custom Projections dialog by pasting the WKT from here.

When I click on the Validate button, it says "This WKT projection definition is valid."

But when I click "OK", it says "The definition of 'GDA2020 Australian Albers' is not valid." and I can't enter it.

QGIS version: 3.20.1-Odense
GDAL/OGR version: 3.0.4
Proj version: 6.3.1
EPSG Registry database version: v9.8.6 (2020-01-22)

Anyone have any pointers?

Thanks
John

Hi John,

I tried that definition and it worked, but then it found it in the database already with this warning:

Just checking my QGIS version, i see i have some difference to yours however:

Is an update possible for you?

Cheers,
Tyson

Ahh interesting, looks like maybe my PROJ is out of date. I'll try to sort that out.

I'm a bit unclear on whether QGIS is using my system proj or comes bundled with its own, in case anyone can shed light on it? I can see that the QGIS proj version matches my system version so maybe it's the former.

Thanks Tyson!
