Hi Everyone,

I recently posted about QGIS voting members here. We have a vote to address now and this can be used as an example for anyone interested in taking the voting member role.

The issue in it's entirety requiring a vote can be seen here with additional information, I highly encourage you to read this before providing a response. I will summarise the issue below for those tight on time, but again read the attached for the full picture.

Issue:  Shift bug/issue tracking work to GitHub Issues for QGIS 3x+

Context: This vote is to determine whether the QGIS project will move to GitHub issue tracker for QGIS 3 and beyond. This will move away from the current redmine issue tracker.

Responses: Please respond to this email with a +1 (Voting for) or -1 (Voting against). You can also respond to this email to discuss or ask the community about implications.

Closes: We will submit our vote at COB Friday 2/2/2018 -  If no one responds to this thread by COB Friday we will abstain from the vote.

I think it would be great if we could avoid abstaining. It's a great opportunity to have a say on issues affecting the project and if this is one that affects you then let us know.

Thanks

Andrew

I have only just got into github but it seems like a fairly open and easy to use system. Seems like a reasonable proposition to me. Also seems like the switch to QGIS 3.0 is as good a time as any to make the change.

Cheers - Phil

I like Gitlab because open source, but more people have a GitHub account, so probably more bugs get reported.

Hopefully there's enough volunteer effort to migrate existing issues from Redmine. Maybe something this group could help with.

Thanks for the vote John.

My understanding from the voting thread on Loomio is that the shift is for QGIS 3 and greater to move away from Redmine.

2.x versions will remain on redmine and be archived as read only as the version becomes unsupported. An issue was raised about the 2.14 LTR version, which will need to remain on Redmine as far as I know.

Maybe time to take this down given it is 7 years ago. :-)
