Solar maps initiative in New Zealand

Hey folks,

I've been a bit quiet on the QGIS front for a while, but have recently volunteered to help Rewiring Australia create very detailed rooftop solar map potential to help enable an informed national conversation around energy.

I'm interested to:

1. Hear if there are others interested, or who are doing something similar?

2. Hear feedback on the strategy we have laid out (in our README).

I'm quite excited in that I think we could be laying a foundation which could be rolled out around the world.

(New Zealand has great open basemaps to start from, which gives it a head start.)

Hi Cameron,

My world is not electrical connectivity but communications connectivity. To that end, I have been working on a number of long-distance fibre optic projects over the last 10 years and used QGIS as the core of my design studio.
