What is the best (most recent & good resolution) imagery for NSW?

So far I've been using Bing Aerial, and ESRI world imagery. However I'm finding Bing is not that recent and ESRI is useless at a scale of 1:2000 or smaller.

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks KIm

You can use the SIX map aerial for NSW by setting up an ArcGIS REST Server in the Browser with the following address

Can't comment on how recent it is, but it is generally high resolution

Step 1 - Open the Browser Panel (View Menu -> Panels ->Browser
Step 2 - Find ArcGIS REST Servers, right click and select New Connection
Step 3 - Fill in the URL with the above and give it a name that makes sense to you. I use Six Aerials.

Hi Kate
I find Six maps imagery pretty good.

I went in to Mapbox and made a feed for their satellite imagery, w street labels. You can make that into a feed into QGIS. It meets your recent/high resolution / coverage most universally. Free under certain circumstances.

If you want a modest paid app, Landchecker does a great job for all of the parts of Australia I have looked at and you can extract an image and load it straight into QGIS.

Both the above better than Bing, Six, Google, Esri.

It seems to be pretty old. Resolution is good though.

Thanks

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the reply. Sounds good.

Do you mind explaining how you make a feed into QGIS from Mapbox? Is this using a WMS?

Apoolgies, I'm pretty new to QGIS..

Thanks :)

Pretty sure I just followed this guide, after making a custom layer in Mapbox,
