QGIS Forums 2015

We are very pleased to invite you to the free May 2015 DMS QGIS Forums in Perth and Melbourne.

The Forum will be led by Nathan Woodrow, an active member of the open source GIS community and developer on the QGIS project.

The aim of this event is to provide a casual environment where people can see QGIS in action, discuss their own QGIS experiences and share thoughts and questions.

Some of the items for presentation include:

·         QGIS 2.8 -  highlights of the great new features and a look at what is coming up in future versions.

·         A variety of real-world demonstrations by QGIS users from a cross-section of industries.

·         Q and A session and open discussion.

Whether you are an existing QGIS user who is looking for an opportunity to share your experiences with others or a potential user who is curious as to how QGIS can enhance your GIS toolkit, these is the events are for you.

QGIS Forums 2015 - Update

Hi All,

Preparations are in place for the QGIS events in Perth and Melbourne. We have excellent numbers and in fact Melbourne has now reached capacity however there are still a few places available in Perth so register now before it's too late The events are shaping up to be very interesting with some fantastic speakers and demonstrations lined up.

Attention Melbourne:

We have a great speaker line up but unfortunately have had one speaker cancel. As a result we are seeking one of you to present a short 10 - 15 minutes presentation relating to anything QGIS orientated This is a terrific opportunity to share your ideas in front of the user group.

As a result if you are interested please contact me ASAP on chris...@mapsolutions.com.au

Look forward to seeing you all there next week.

Kind Regards,

Chris Scott.

Many thanks to Chris, Nathan, Joanne, all of the guest speakers and to DMS for the fantastic Perth QGIS forum today!  I really enjoyed the feature demonstrations and the case studies (breaky was nice too!), and I left with a much greater appreciation of the tools and features available in QGIS and of the innovative ways in which they are being used in production environments.  And a head full of new ideas to try at home :)

Thanks again,

Tore

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

Yes sorry - that was me and John beat me to the reminder! But I think it is a great opportunity to remind people of how to get together and about getting known in the QGIS Community as a business that supports QGIS and FOSS4G.

For QGIS events, if we could continue to coordinate them through QGIS AU as we wish to support you and help gain as much traction as possible. The platforms Tasadduq mentioned are also great and we might use the Meetup to reach out to the greater GIS community. These platforms are also great opportunities to learn about GeoRabbles and other GIS events like GeoGeeks in Perth, BGN in Brisbane, FUNGIS in Nth QLD and Sunny Coast GIS on the Sunshine Coast. If you know of others, let me know!

We also have the QGIS Calendar you can download that we can upload events to. Just send them to the email list as I check it daily and will upload suitable events.

Just a reminder - we love businesses who support QGIS but this channel is not the one for advertising, but more to help each other grow through support.

For businesses that wish to get known as supporters of QGIS and FOSS4G, there is always an option to sponsor events from cafe get-togethers, small events like hackathons or go big at one of the regional or global conferences.

You can also get further kudos by becoming a sustaining member of the QGIS Project, or by funding feature development which will get your name up in lights forever on the QGIS Changelogs.

Happy to discuss this more on the email list or privately if you want to.

Kind regards
Em

If you’re looking for current QGIS community sessions in Australia, I’d suggest checking platforms like Meetup, LinkedIn groups, or local GIS institutions. They often run updated workshops, webinars, and hybrid events.

And if you ever need help setting up QGIS projects, troubleshooting, or custom workflow solutions, you can also find practical IT support here: https://www.theardor.com.au/it-support/
