Hi,

Has anyone had success at importing Telstra's DWF files into a QGIS project? If so, what's your workflow? Thanks in advance.,

Hi Thomas,

I have successfully imported via dwg to gpkg in QGIS following the following workflow:
https://gis.stackexchange.com/a/265968/10661
i.e. Project > DWG/DXF-import

I have no experience directly with Telstra .dwg data however I imagine it should also work for that data as well.

Cheers,
Michael

Heya
Have you tried this workflow as well to add it as a rest server?

I also see some councils have it as a mapserver like Dubbo but still available as a wfs.

Cheers
Em

Actually, for the small areas Archaeologists use DBYD for we usually get plans as well which I convert to JPGs and georeference them. It seems quicker than trying to work out why you DFX is in the Pacific.

Cheers Iain

I have used this workflow on very large DBYD datasets. It holds up just fine. However, once it starts .. go for a walk... have a cuppa. It takes a while to complete.

Thanks for that. I had a go at it last week and it was, probably my fault more than the instructions, confusing. Will take notice of the delay that it can generate. Thanks. Appreciate the helpful feedback. Thomas

Hi Thomas, just wondering if you got the Telstra DWF to import into the correct location in QGIS? My DWF's from Telstra keep going to Iran. I'm out of my depth with the different CRS' but from other CAD files, I've not had a CRS discrepancy issue. Maybe I changed something I don't know. Do you have to manually select the CRS for the Telstra layer as some kind of custom CRS that Telstra uses? Thanks in advance.

Hello People,

This is not exactly a QGIS question,m but I guess you are the right people to ask.

We have recently seen a problem while geo-processing data in Python that only occurs with GDA94 and GDA2020, and I guess I am probably missing something basic about these two projections.

In a nutshell, round trip conversions between WGS84 and these two other projections does not work, resulting in some pretty insane results. Example below:

epsg:4326   => (153, -27)
epsg:4348   => (-5067052.800615102, 2581792.355845415)
epsg:4326   => (153.0, 0.0) # THIS IS NOT EXPECTED

We have reported the issue on pyproj, but not sure if this is even an issue really.

Cheers,
Pedro

Hiya all

EPSG4348 is deprecated[1].  EPSG:4939, EPSG:7843 look to work as expected, maybe some other expressions of GDA94 and GDA2020 also work.

That's a neat little roundtrip function!

Cheers,
