Hi,

I am looking for a little help to enable editing of attributes within an imported spreadsheet. I created the file via a Getac and opened in QGIS edited via EXCEL and then added as a Delimited text layer and it looks good but I cannot edit the attribute table, a banner on the map displays  “Provider does not support deletion: Data provider does not support deleting features”.

I have checked the Layers>properties>Fields and all edit boxes are ticked.

I’m running 2.2.0

I know there must be a switch somewhere……

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Kind regards

Hi

I have sorted the issue out, basically what i have done was to save my XL spreadsheet as a CSV file, add it as a vector to my project, then right click, go to save as, this opens a dialogue box then i saved as ESRI shape file. then from QGIS add a vector select the new shp file and bang now i can edit the attribute table.

Hi Steven,

that behaviour is to be expected. You must first convert the delimited text to a format that QGIS/GDAL can read write to, shapefile or one of the databases.
