Hi all

See the email and video link in the email below - there is a nice kickoff to the week of World CLT Day by USA Senator Bernie Sanders, who supported the establishment of the Burlington Community Land Trust, which later merged with Lake Champlain Housing to become the Champlain Housing Trust.

A reminder that the ACLTN Community of Practice relaunch webinar is on this Friday 16 May, which is World CLT Day, from 11am-12pm Eastern Australia Time. Come along to hear from and connect with emerging CLTs that are navigating the waters of startup.

If you haven't already, you can register here: https://events.humanitix.com/bmclt-communities-of-practice

Kind regards
Louise

A Message to the Global CLT Movement

from Senator Bernie Sanders

Kicking off the week of #WorldCLTDay2025, we’re honored and excited to share a special message from Senator Bernie Sanders, long-time supporter of community land trusts and former mayor of Burlington, Vermont.

This message was made possible by the CLT Center's Board Co-President Brenda Torpy, a founding member and former CEO of Champlain Housing Trust, who personally reached out to Senator Sanders for this occasion.

Echoing Senator Sanders’ message—thank you all for the incredible work you are doing. Together, we are lifting up the global movement for community-led development on community-owned land.

If you haven’t seen it yet, we also put together an official press release to help spread the word. Please feel free to share both the video and press release with journalists, funders, and partners—or translate and adapt them to reflect your local context and community.
