Converting to a CLT

Hello Debra and everyone,

Some of the residents in our ecovillage in currumbin would like to
explore ways in which we can reduce the cost of entry into our
community.

We are considering promoting shared titile ( tenants in common) and
would like to explore how forming a CLT to purchase some of the
remaining blocks could be used in combination to provide affordable
rental and home purchase.

We don't have any affordable housing element written into our
community management statement or by-laws although the developer and
residents have been proactive in helping reduce the cost of
building.This does nothing to reduce the cost of land though.

I'd like to learn more about setting up a CLT and the legal process
involved so if anyone can suggest a lawyer with experience in CLT
legalities that'd be great.

The idea is to present to our community various ways in which we can
contribute to affordability in our own ecovillage once we've sorted
out some alternatives.
