G’day,

I have said a number of times that “Money squeaks louder than truth!” as the big companies are pouring $10 million into advertising against the price – money they have taken off us and could be spending on reducing pollution (I know it’s chicken feed to them but it sounds a lot to me!).

Even if the “Carbon Price” does not solve “climate change” I still think the proposal is really important as it will help us move from “dirty” fossil fuels and even nuclear energy to renewable energy while we have options and energy to assist, rather than delaying real action on renewable energy until there is no choice (which will be a huge disaster for nearly everyone!).

You may like to watch the 2 minute video at http://youtu.be/weVU0-fEvjc which provides an explanation. I really like the “Day in the life of Tony Abbot” at http://youtu.be/qdqklZ7-eu8 as well.

Have a good day,

HOOROO

Hi Paul  Hi All,
There is a lot of truth in what you say Paul.
We are on the cusp of cheap renewable energy.  When I first moved to Baffle creek  Population 3 wombats and a Koala solar was $9 a watt today I can get it on the internet for $2 a watt delivered to my door and if I want to import it myself it is $1.70 a watt for first class good quality solar panels  and even though I am on a careers pension will be able to install 3 to 5k of solar power with in the next 12 to 18 months.

Whilst I understand that this is not bio gas the capital that will be freed up will allow me to do something there as well.  It is not the cost of making the gas which is the problem but the cost of utilizing it.  So as prices fall and technology increases there will be many wonderful things happen.

Gene

Gene, All,

Very good call - as one set of green tech becomes cheaper, it creates
an incentive for other competing technologies to "keep up" or get left
behind.

The other optimistic view I have with the blossoming of the ETS is
that Biogas CHP Plants will actually become a focus by industry and
the EPA.

We may still see the likes of a commercial sized biogas facility in
Australia.
