to Australian Aroid Growers
Hi there,
thought I would (rather belatedly) post an introduction to the
group as well as a bit of what's going on with my aroids at the
moment.
My name is Jess and I'm an aroid addict.......
Started a few years back with just one Amorph. konjac bulb and now I
am thoroughly hooked. I particularly love Amorphophallus (have about
30 species), Arisaemas, Arums, Biarums, Dracunculus and Typhoniums. I
am in Sydney, finding that the climate here is good for a wide range
of things - cool enough for the Arisaemas and Arums, warm enough in
summer for Amorphs (I prefer the lift n' store dry types, for ease of
culture, but am venturing into the store in soil types).
As spring is on us now have had a good run so far of A. paeoniifolius,
A. konjac, A. variaibilis and A. prainii flowering all in quick
succession. Arisaemas are just starting to pop up and should get a few
species flowering this year. Arums are starting to go dormant, just A.
dioscoridis with a flower bud ready to go in the next week or so.
Hoping to be able to trade, buy or swap with any others around who've
got freaky plants to spare, particularly of Amorphs., trying to find
lewallei, heterophyllum, longituberosus, opertus, obscurus and
others.......

Happy growing!
Cheers, Jess
