** A message from Phil, our Aussie negotiator tracker who is currently in chilly Copenhagen **
Dear Climate Trackers,
Copenhagen is truly bustling! From bike powered lights on the Christmas trees to massive billboards calling on our world leaders to take strong action, it’s all happening before the UN Climate Summit has even officially kicked off!
Over the recent weeks we have been heard that the likelihood of a good outcome from Copenhagen is becoming ever more distant. This is not a reason to let our political leaders off the hook - we need to do the opposite, and continue to build pressure, in demanding an outcome that will be based on doing what climate science tells us is necessary and which enshrines the principles of climate justice to protect the lives and rights of the world’s poor.
You can play an essential role.
Check out my latest blog from Copenhagen and add your questions and comments. We know the Aussie negotiating team read them!!
Over the next 2 weeks, please do take action. Send a farewell note to PM Rudd before he jets off, attend Walk Against Warming on Dec 12, write a letter to your local paper about why you care, stay tuned for our rapid response actions AND MORE!
Tracking for you,
Phil
** Over the next 2 weeks, Phil and I will be sending you regular updates from the talks and at key moments we’ll ask you to take action to put extra pressure. Please, each time, forward this message on to at least 5 of your friends. Now is the time to keep the movement growing!! They can join up to be a part of this google group here.**
