At 11.55pm it seems the storm is beginning to peter out. The Radar showed it almost stationary over South Canberra and Tuggeranong for almost two hours, with lightning, thunder and moderate to heavy continuous rain, which has now eased somewhat. Total rainfall was 29.1mm from 10 pm to 11.20pm with the maximum rate 72.4mm/hr at 11.20pm.
Mount Ginni has recorded zero rain, while Tidbinbilla recorded 32.2!  Canberra A/P 8.0, Kowen Forrest 9.4, Tuggeranong 15.2 and ACT PCS 1, 49.2mm! Gudgenby and Mullion in the Brindabellas recorded zero rain!
While there was a considerable spread of precipitation showing on the Radar around the east and north of the ACT, the most intense part was right over us!
Certainly, a remarkable event.

Cheers and good night,

Gavin

Gavin
I notice that  Farrer reported 75, Daekin 94.8 and Torrens 70.8 if they are correct.  Seems a lot
Do you think they are ok readings from what you observed ?

Don

Hi Don,
I recorded 50.3 mm here to 10 am, most fell during the storm which lasted about 2 hours from around 10 o'clock. From the Canberra Radar and personal observation the storm was almost stationary the whole time. The SES reported flash flooding in the Woden Valley which is Northwest of us and where the rain fall totals you mentioned were recorded. One caller to the ABC reported 70mm in Wanniassa! The figures are quite believable.
It was extremely local as surrounding areas had either light rain or none!
Looks like an interesting day ahead for us.
Cheers
Gavin.
