The North Canberra suburb of Nichols, Belconnen Town Centre were worst impacted by the storm with hail, heavy but brief rain and damaging wind bringing trees and limbs down according to the ABC TV News. Storms now moving away to the north east of Canberra.

It hit us about 8pm 50mm of rain in minutes a wind gust of 80kph, then a loud clap of thunder and power went off and then came back on. Rain has continues this morning so far 67mm and climbing for this rain storm.
