Up to 9am this morning, Townsville has recorded 2,248 mm on rain  - mostly in the last 2 months, including 8 days with more than 100 mm. .

They have had  their  Wettest February ever  and wettest March ever – both by quite a bit !

This is almost twice their annual average of 1142 mm.

More  remarkably,  taking a composite  readings  back to 1871 (over 150 years), there  has only been  two years  with more annual rainfall - 2000 with 2399.8 mm  and way back in 1894  with 2482.6 mm

With over 9 months of 2025 to go,  they would be  odds on to have their wettest year ever.

Hi Don.

Wow. That is a hell of a lot of rain in only 3 months. As you said, they'd have to be on track to break the record you would think.

Regards Bussy

Hi Don and Bussy,
I spent a year in Ayr. 100 km to the south of Townsville (2007/2008), so I experienced a full wet season, although rather a lot drier than this one. The rainfall totals are absolutely mind blowing, even by North Queensland standards!

Cheers,

Gavin
