East Austin off leash near downtown?

Hi everyone,

Hearing the talk about losing an off leash area reminded me of how far I have to go to get to an off leash dog area. I live near E 12th St and Chestnut (which is also Pleasant Valley and Cherrywood), and it would be great to have an off leash area, fenced in probably, somewhere east of I-35 between 51st and Town Lake. 

Boggy Creek Park near my house seems like an excellent candidate. It has a lot of land that is only lightly used. Fencing in an area the size of the Clarksville dog park would not make a big difference in the amount of on leash space.

Has there been any substantive discussion about creating an off leash area over here?
